Lewes Fire Department’s 3rd Annual Apple Festival

Celebrate fall and support local first responders at the Lewes Fire Department’s 3rd Annual Apple Festival at Station 2 in Nassau. This family-friendly day features apple treats, local shopping, kid-friendly activities, and special fundraising for a great cause.


Festival Highlights

  • 70+ Saltwater Roots Vendors
    Curated makers and crafters from across Sussex County. This vendor event sold out in just two days back in April—come ready to shop unique, hand-made finds. (Event by Saltwater Roots Boutique / Saltwater Roots Events.)

  • All Things Apple
    Fresh apple cider, caramel apples, apple treats, and more—plus the Auxiliary’s homemade apple desserts and a secret cider cocktail available for purchase.

  • Local Favorites
    Fifer Orchards seasonal apples, apple cider donuts, apple butter, and Hopkins Creamery Apple Pie Ice Cream.

  • Family Fun
    Petting Zoo on site and Grass Roots Dog Rescue joining the festivities.


Breast Cancer Awareness: Special LFD T-Shirts

The Lewes Fire Department will launch its Breast Cancer Awareness support at the Apple Festival. Pick up a short-sleeve t-shirt (Navy or Gray) with the LFD logo on the front and a special design on the back.
A portion of every shirt benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

About the Lewes Fire Department

The Lewes Fire Department, Inc. is a combination volunteer/career department providing fire and emergency medical services to Lewes and neighboring jurisdictions in Sussex County. Lewes is the busiest fire department in Sussex County and the fifth busiest in Delaware (not including the City of Wilmington).

Fire Services

Protecting 54 square miles from three fire stations, the department operates a fleet of 24 emergency vehicles, including:

  • 5 Engines, 1 Tower Ladder, 1 Rescue Engine

  • 2 Brush Trucks, 2 Marine Units

  • 6 Basic Life Support Ambulances

  • Additional specialized response units

LFD also provides mutual aid to Indian River, Georgetown, Milton, Rehoboth Beach, and Slaughter Beach.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

LFD provides EMS coverage for the Town of Lewes and surrounding areas, including Cape Henlopen State Park and the Cape May–Lewes Ferry.
Staffing includes 25 full-time and 6 part-time career NREMT-Bs, working shifts of six during the day and four at night, with volunteer NREMT-Bs supplementing as call volumes demand—ensuring 24/7 uninterrupted coverage amid the area’s rapid growth.
