Dogfish Dash 2025: Our Off-Centered Race Returns to Milton!

The off-centered race you know and love is back for its 18th year—Dogfish Dash hits the streets of Milton on Sunday, September 28, 2025! We’re running (and walking!) for a cause again: all proceeds benefit the Sussex County Land Trust. Expect your favorite traditions—like the Recycled Costume Contest—plus some fun new twists, including a shorter 3K walk for hoomans and their pups and an all-new Cheer Squad lining the route.


Quick Details

  • Date & Time: Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, 9:00–11:00 a.m.

    • Recycled Costume Contest judging: 8:00 a.m.

  • Start/Finish: Dogfish Head Milton Brewery, 6 Cannery Village Center, Milton, DE 19968

  • Events: Off-centered 5K(ish) race + NEW 3K walk (dog-friendly encouraged)

  • Beneficiary: Sussex County Land Trust

Registration is open for both events:

  • $50 – 5K(ish) runners

  • $40 – 3K walkers

What’s included: race t-shirt, running belt, and two beverage tickets (21+ only) for the post-run party featuring our draft beer trailer and on-site activities with Sussex County Land Trust and friends.

Heads up: There is no race-day packet pick-up.


Packet Pick-Up (No Race-Day Pick-Up)

  • Wed, Sept. 24 – Brewings & Eats, 4–8 p.m.

  • Sat, Sept. 27 – Milton Brewery, 12–5 p.m.

Policies:

  • No bib trades or transfers at any time.

  • No t-shirt size exchanges (sizes are ordered based on registration).


The Course & Cheer Squad

We’re dashing through gorgeous Milton, DE on a slightly refreshed route designed to welcome a Cheer Squad—so bring your best signs and your loudest voices to lift up runners along the way! A dedicated 3K walking route makes it easy for Dashers (and pups) to join the fun at a feel-good pace.

Recycled Costume Contest

Bring the creativity, keep it sustainable! Craft a costume using recycled materials—think old beer cans, bottle caps, cardboard—and strut your stuff on Dash day for a chance at sweet prizes.

How to Enter (Race Day):

  1. Gather recycled materials (or pick some up at craft night or packet pick-up).

  2. Create your costume—bonus points for Sussex County Land Trust themes!

  3. Arrive in costume and meet at the stage between 8:00–8:30 a.m. for judging.

Pre-Race Crafting:

  • Thu, Sept. 25 | 4–6 p.m. – Costume-Making Party at the Milton Brewery

  • Bonus: Recycled materials will also be available at both packet pick-ups.

Beer & Benevolence: Running for Nature

We’re proud to support Sussex County Land Trust, a nonprofit conserving natural, cultural, agricultural, and recreational resources through preservation, stewardship, and education.

Recent & Ongoing Projects Include:

  • Hudson Park: Developing a trailhead connecting to the Georgetown–Lewes Trail. Parking lots were completed in 2023; upcoming phases include a bathroom facility, a Can-Do Playground (with Sussex County Rotary Clubs), and tree line restoration.

  • Forest of Broadkill Preserve: A 294+ acre site just outside downtown Milton. Renovated trails are already in place, with more plans for a mountain bike trail, reforestation, and enhanced quail habitat.

FAQs (Fast & Useful)

  • Can I walk? Yes! The 3K walk is perfect for an easy pace.

  • Can I bring my dog? Pups are encouraged on the 3K walk (please be a responsible pet parent).

  • Will there be race-day packet pick-up? No. Please attend one of the scheduled pick-ups.

  • Are costume materials provided? We’ll have recycled supplies at craft night and packet pick-ups.

  • What if I need to change my shirt size or transfer my bib? Not available, per race policies.
